100 Bonus Points! Georgia Legal Food Frenzy

8th Annual Legal Food Frenzy Registration is Open!

Fellow Bar Members,

It’s official: registration for the 8th Annual Legal Food Frenzy is open, and lawyers across Georgia are signing-up to fight hunger in their communities. Last year, we set records, raising more than $400,000 for Georgia’s food banks. Will you help us top it this year?

The Legal Food Frenzy competition runs from April 22 to May 3. Learn more and register your firm, legal organization, in-house counsel or court at galegalfoodfrenzy.org [ linkprotect.cudasvc.com ] . Register by Monday, April 1, and receive 100 bonus points!

Why do we support the Legal Food Frenzy each year? Because of people like Clara Bennett, an 88-year-old retired nurse who is raising her two great-grandchildren. She often struggles to make ends meet over the summer months because her great-grandchildren no longer have access to the free meals provided by their school. During the summer, they are often forced to skip lunch. Sadly, Clara’s story is not unique. More than 60 percent of kids in Georgia are eligible for free or reduced-cost lunch at school, and when school is out for summer, they lack access to the food they need.

That’s where we come in. The Legal Food Frenzy is held during spring each year to stock the food banks in time for the increased need during summer. Last summer, Clara and her great-grandchildren started receiving lunches through one of the food bank’s many agencies. Now, she says, “They enjoy every bite.”

As leaders in the community, Georgia’s lawyers commit to this cause every year because there is no reason any person, especially a child, should go hungry. It is our responsibility to ensure kids like Clara’s great-grandchildren can grow and thrive and have every chance at a bright future. Through the Food Frenzy, we are part of the solution to hunger.

It doesn’t hurt that the Legal Food Frenzy is fun, too. It is a friendly competition done in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar and the Georgia Food Bank Association and is open to everyone in the legal community. This is your chance to go head-t0-head with your fiercest legal rivals. While everything your team raises stays local and benefits the food bank that serves your community, the glory is statewide. Statewide awards are given in various categories based on the amount raised per employee and amount raised overall. Winners are recognized during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in June by Attorney General Chris Carr and the State Bar.
