2020 LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Throughout the legislative session, please visit the Legislative Program [ www.gabar.org ] page for a complete summary of Bar proposals, other legislative items of interest, a weekly email update and information on how to contact the State Bar’s legislative consultants who are working for you each day under the Gold Dome. Our goal is to keep our members up to date on the ways that the Bar is advocating for you and your practice.

HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The High School Mock Trial Competition still needs volunteers in several cities around the state, especially Albany, Cartersville, Cumming, Douglasville, McDonough, Savannah and Valdosta. 2020 BOARD OF GOVERNORS CANDIDATE INFORMATION

Pursuant to Standing Executive Committee Policy 1000 [ www.gabar.org ] (State Bar of Georgia Elections), a list of Board of Governors posts that are up for re-election this year, including a list of candidates and posts where the incumbent has chosen not to run for re-election, is now available for viewing [ www.gabar.org ] .

The deadline for receipt of nominating petitions for non-incumbents is Friday, Feb. 21, at 11:59 p.m. There are detailed instructions in the election packet plus a list of frequently asked questions that will guide you through the nominating and election process. JUSTICE ROBERT BENHAM AWARDS CEREMONY DINNER | VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The 21st Annual Justice Robert Benham Awards for Community Service will be held Saturday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Omni Atlanta Hotel. Volunteers are needed to assist with the dinner. SUICIDE AWARENESS PROGRAM SATELLITE VIEWING LOCATIONS NEEDED | SIGN-UP NOW TO HOST

The Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism will present a Suicide Awareness Program on Tuesday, April 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bar Center in Atlanta. The commission is seeking volunteers to coordinate and host satellite viewing locations around the state.
