Section Update

A hearty hello to the members of the Environmental Law Section. Your section board is hard at work planning for a great year. We are busy planning events for 2020, but wanted to share some brief updates on section business.

2020 Red Clay Conference – February 21 at UGA Law

First, some of our future colleagues at UGA Law have invited our section members to attend the 32nd Annual Red Clay Conference on February 21. Organized by law students who are members of Environmental Law Association, the Red Clay Conference aims to increase public awareness of environmental issues of regional, national and international significance through a series of educational presentations and open forum discussions. For more information see attached [ http:////sbog.informz.net/sbog/data/images/1.pdf ] and please visit www.law.uga.edu [ www.law.uga.edu ] . Registration can be found under the Red Clay Conference tab.

Welcome our new Treasurer, Nicholas Howell!

The section selected Nic Howell as the newest member of the board. We are excited to welcome a new officer with an impressive track record in our chosen profession but also within the Bar, as a graduate of the State Bar Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy.

Board Members

At our December 2019 meeting, we voted to amend our section bylaws to align our board officer terms with the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) to be consistent with other bar sections. Therefore, current board officers will serve in their roles through June 2021, after which terms will run for one year on the fiscal calendar.

Your current board members are listed below, and we are always available to discuss section business.
