Family Law | Delivery of Legal Services in Response to COVID19 – Fingerprint Applications for Adoptions and Other Child Placements

State Bar President Darrell Sutton organized the Delivery of Legal Services in Response to COVID19 Committee in mid-March. The Committee is chaired by Paul Painter (Savannah). Will Davis (Atlanta), Audrey Bergeson (Atlanta) and Martin Valbuena (Dallas), all with practices dealing with family law and child advocacy, round out the committee.

The Committee has worked diligently to locate places throughout Georgia which continue to process fingerprint applications during COVID19 for adoptions and other child placements. Click here [ sbog.info ] for a detailed list of available locations.

Please note the following caveats:

1. This list is ever-changing.

2. Most UPS stores are not currently processing fingerprints, but hope to have some plan of action by mid-May 2020. Similarly, many county jails are slowly beginning to process fingerprints.

3. This list is not all encompassing. The Georgia Gemalto website (www.aps.gemalto.com) remains operative, but may not be updated for COVID-19. Practitioners and clients are encouraged to do their own searches as various businesses come back online.

4. Clients need to be prepared to wait, make appointments and follow social distancing/mask rules as required by each location.

Thank you to Will Davis, YLD President, for sharing this information. And, many thanks to the Committee. Your work is appreciated.
