Family Law | Volunteer Attorneys Needed

Dear Family Law Sections Members:

In this time of self-isolation, social distancing, and shelter-in-place orders, there is a concern that instances of domestic violence will increase. Where once survivors and children may have had some respite by going to work or school, isolation allows abusers more tactics to maintain control.

Volunteer attorneys are needed to provide legal services to TPO petitioners. Petitioners may need advice and counsel on filing an initial petition or may need representation at a second TPO hearing. Georgia Legal Services Program will provide training, support, and malpractice insurance for cases you handle. To volunteer to help, follow this link to Georgia Legal Services’ volunteer pledge form- www.surveymonkey.com [ www.surveymonkey.com ] – and check off “Protective Orders” or email GLSP’s COVID-TPO lawyer-coordinator Sarah J. Anderson at sjanderson@glsp.org .
