Georgia Commission on Child Support Accepting Comments on Child Support Guidelines

The Georgia Commission on Child Support will be accepting written comments and holding a public hearing to receive input on the state’s child support guidelines and basic obligation table. Every four years the commission undertakes a study to determine the appropriateness of child support order amounts across the state. The independent forensic economist retained for this study has issued a report recommending that Georgia’s Basic Child Support Obligation table remain unchanged.

The Child Support Commission will provide two different ways to comment: 1) By registering here [ docs.google.com ] and attending the public hearing on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m., in the boardroom of Georgia Public Broadcasting, 260 14th St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318; or 2) By providing written comments here [ docs.google.com ] through 12 p.m. on Nov. 1. A downloadable copy of the study is available here [ csc.georgiacourts.gov ] .

Comments received will be considered by the Child Support Commission. Georgia’s Income Shares Guidelines, O.C.G.A. § 19-6-15, were effective Jan. 1, 2007. The next quadrennial review will be conducted in the year 2022.
