Dear fellow Section Member:

Each year the RPLS awards its most prestigious honor, the George A. Pindar award, to the Section member whose lifetime contribution has been significant to the Real Property Section and the practice of real property law, and who unselfishly gives of him or herself for the benefit of the Bar. The RPLS is pleased to announce that this year’s Pindar Award winner is Patrise M. Perkins-Hooker .

Ms. Perkins-Hooker is an honors graduate of Georgia Tech in Industrial Management and received her JD/MBA degrees from Emory University Law and Business Schools. She is currently the County Attorney for Fulton County, Georgia. In this capacity, she is responsible for all of the civil legal needs of one of the largest counties in Georgia. She supervises a staff of over 30 professionals and provides legal advice to seven commissioners and over 40 departments. Prior to joining Fulton County she served as the vice president and general counsel for the Atlanta BeltLine Inc. for six years.

She is a former a partner with the law firm of Hollowell, Foster & Gepp, PC, where she was in charge of the Commercial Real Estate Group. She also owned her own law firm for over 10 years.

She is a former Chair of the Real Property Law Section and she went on to become the 52nd President of the State Bar of Georgia and the first person of color elected to this position.

She has received numerous honors for her service to the legal profession and the community, including being selected the Outstanding Young Alumnus for Georgia Tech in 1998, being a member of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association and a founding member of the Georgia Tech Minority Alumni Committee and a twenty year plus member of the Georgia Tech Capital Jackets She has also been inducted into the Gate City Bar Association’s Hall of Fame, presented the Leah Ward Sears Service to the Profession Award by the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, recipient of an Honorary degree from the John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, and being presented the Eleonoré Raoul Greene Trailblazer Award from Emory University Law School. She has also received the Phoenix Award from the Mayor of Atlanta. This is the highest honor bestowed on citizens in Atlanta for their outstanding contributions.

She is happily married to Douglas R. Hooker. They have two children and eight grandchildren.

I know that I stand with all members of the Section when I offer Patrise my admiration, my congratulations and my heartfelt thanks for all she has contributed to the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. I hope you will all reach out to Patrise to let her know how proud we all are of her.
