Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair – GIPA, Ga Bar, Atlanta Bar to Host in 2019

The Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance (GIPA) and [ ] Georgia [ ] State University [ ] College of Law have announced that starting [ ] in 2019 GIPA [ ] will oversee the Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair (SIPJF), the largest [ ] in the region. GIPA thanks [ ] Georgia [ ] State University [ ] College of Law for their continued [ ] commitment to the intellectual property community [ ] in the [ ] Southeast and for nurturing an [ ] environment that has been, and [ ] will continue to be, mutually beneficial to both students and employers.

Each year SIPJF has welcomed over 40 law firms from across the country to interview students from more than 30 law schools spanning across 11 states. GIPA will expand that scope and seek to open more opportunities with national law firms across the country and allow for more law schools to enroll students in SIPJF. Allowing the best intellectual property law firms to sit down with the best intellectual property law students strengthens the IP community and evolves the practice area, one job at a time.

Working with the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association, GIPA plans on expanding the boundaries of SIPJF to create the largest and most comprehensive intellectual job fair in the nation. While current law students will remain the focus, GIPA will expand the scope of employment opportunities for patent agents, sticking to their mission of creating a tight-knit community of creators, protectors, and enablers in Georgia and the Southeast.

While GIPA is a new organization, the members have been working together in the Atlanta IP community for many years creating and fostering the IP ecosystem that practitioners, academics, inventors, and creators so eagerly need. SIPJF is one step in continuing to create and promote such a healthy environment. “We are pleased that GIPA is able to take this intellectual property gem the College of Law has created and push it to the next level,” stated Dean of Georgia State University College of Law, Wendy Hensel. “We are excited about the opportunity to build on the success of Georgia State University’s premier IP job fair and partner with the Georgia and Atlanta Bar’s to provide a world class IP job connector experience,” said Scott Frank, Chair of GIPA.

SIPJF is one project of many that GIPA seeks to create a simpler journey for those seeking to navigate the waters of creation, protection, and enablement for their intellectual property. Creating more jobs in the practice area of copyright, trademark, and patent law will allow inventors, creators, artists, and businesses from around the world to know that their best ideas, visions, and creations are in safe hands and accessible to those that they choose.

Registration for the 2019 SIPJF will be opening in the coming months. GIPA looks forward to building on the success of Georgia State University College of Law and serving the intellectual property community at large.
